it's not the worst thing in the world to do nothing else

there is still the trade deadline to get players and get rid of players. maybe Ike Davis can turn into Chris Davis for the Mets. maybe Tejada learned his lesson and fat camp worked. J.J Hardy and Jed Lowerie will be traded as soon as their teams hot young SS prospects are healthy and ready. and those 2 guys could be long term solution's not just expensive band aids.

i'm over Steven Drew he is nothing more then an average player. i don't want him for that long and that much money (4 years 12-mill per). when the Mets can spend a little more and get an above average player if they wait.

sure if the Mets can get a Chris Owings, Didi Gregorious, Nick Franklin, Brad Miller or someone of that type then fine. yes go get a player who is a young long term fix but if not just go with Tejada. if Tejada was on another team and he had 1 terrible year after 2 good seasons the Mets would be all over him. Tejada could easily return to what he was the previous 2 seasons. he's only 23 years old so he could even improve on those years. it's too early to give up on Tejada no matter how bad he was.

the Mets could also get some good young cheap talent to pressure Tejada into preforming Dee Gordon, Munenori Kawasaki, Zach Walters Dean Anna, Kensuke Tanaka, and others could be had for peanuts. they could pressure Tejada into preforming and be used as a stick to take AB away from Tejada. i don't think a Wiley old vet in the twilight of his career can put a scare into Tejada like those young but low ceiling guys can. even just having Tovar on the bench could push Tejada into taking his job seriously.

having Duda in AAA and Davis in MLB could work out for the Mets. Duda and Davis could both build up trade value and 1 could be dealt for much more then what Sandy is being offered now. especially if a team in the playoff hunt has an injury and is desperate. Sandy could rake them over the coals. or one of them could actually become a great 1B and clean up hitter like the Mets hoped and be a long term answer and the other could fail and just be cut. the down side is they could both fail and the Mets could get nothing for them. but it's a risk i think the Mets should take.
