We need an outfield. Right now the dodgers have 4 starters and also a highly touted prospect in Joc Pederson. As much as big moves are attractive with the goal of instant contention, the fact is that the Mets are young. We should therefore be looking for players that have room to grow.
The Dodgers need pitching and an infielder. If we could package a starter, possibly Gee, and Murphy, we could go after Pederson and maybe Ethier at the same time (dodgers eat some of Ethier's salary).
This move frees up payroll for the dodgers, cleans up their current outfield issues, and provides valuable pieces they need now for a playoff push.
For the Mets, this gives us a near ready, highly rated outfield prospect to develop with our other young stars, a player to plug into the outfield now in Ethier, and while it hurts to lose Murphy, Flores would have a position. At some point the mets have to give Flores playing time to see what he can do. The mets could still make other moves, trading either Duda or Davis to get other pieces as needed.
