Is Sandy's Success A Product of Omar Minaya?

Sandy Alderson's success is a product of what Omar Minaya left over. Carlos Beltran and RA Dickey were both left over from Minayas regime. Even though he has had some good trades he also has screwed up quite a few. Wasn't Angel Pagan traded for Andres Torres and Jose Reyes never got traded even when they knew they werent gonna resign him? Jon Niese, Wilmer Flores, Bobby Parnell, Daniel Murphy and Matt Harvey were all Minaya draft picks. With his first round picks Alderson has gone off the map taking Brandon Nimmo and then took a low risk, low reward shortstop in Gavin Checchini. He has taken priority in building up pitching depth but passed up on Jose Fernandez, Lucas Giolito and Michael Wacha to take helium picks like Nimmo and Cecchini. His decision to try and stay competative while rebuilding is just laughable. When you want to rebuild you need high draft picks and numbers 13, 15 and 11 arent high. Another team that went into rebuilding at the same time is the Cubs. They decided to focus all thier money into the draft and international markets and just tank each season. This has lead to first round picks number 9, 5 and 3 that produced power hitting shortstop Javier Baez, 5 tool outfielder Albert Almora and corner infielder Kris Bryant which all play positions the Mets lack at the major league level. Also Chicago has taken over the international market giving large bonases to high potential players rather than give Shaun Marcum or Frank Francisco millions to act as stop gaps. Every year Cuban players defect and sign rather team friendly low money, high year contracts. These players include Yoenis Cespedes, Yasiel Puig and Jorge Solar but how many of them did the Mets show interest in? None. If his goal was to stay competative and rebuild than he had to spend money on both amatuer and major league talwnt but he just didnt. Why didnt we resign Reyes? Had he been resigned we could have used the 2012 first round pick on Wacha, Butler, Simms or Giolito who are all power starting pitchers. This year once again Sandy was baffled by how much money Peralta and Pence got. In my opinion we should not resign Sandy and we should definately fire our director of scouting because a team that doesnt draft well cant win. I hate that this team cant even get to the playoffs for David Wright. And If i were him I would request a trade if Sandy is given a contract extension. See if Wilpon can get a highup official in the Cardinals, Cubs or Red Sox organization to be our GM because the past three seasons have been wastes and its not getting better. How are the Mets going to compete with the Braves, Nationals and surprisingly the Marlins in a few years. The only team that is currently worse at the major and minor league level in the NL East is the Phillies. Based on what he has done I don't think Sandy deserves an extension, what is your take on this?
