Mets (Morning) News for March 12, 2013

Since the slackers that actually write for the website are AWOL, I figured I'd put up the morning news myself.

Meet the Mets

The Mets beat the Tigers and Justin Verlander yesterday, 11-0, for their third spring training win in a row. Probable opening day starter Jon Niese pitched one hit ball over 4 2/3 innings pitched, although he did walk four and strike out none.

The most exciting part of the game came when JV1 got hit in teh nutz by JV35. Valdespin was checked by team doctors and was fine. Valdespin was then taken to task by Terry Collins for not wearing a cup.

Mets top prospect Michal Fulmer (whom the Mets acquired with a supplemental pick when the Yankees signed Pedro Feliciano) requires surgery for a torn meniscus in his knee. Hopefully this doesn't affect his development.

Former Yankee, and current Team USA manager, Joe Torre loves him some David Wright. Here's some more players raving about D-Wright. I <3 Dubs.

With Johan still upset at the Mets team brass, Mike Bates at SBnation takes a look at the cost of the Johan trade to the Mets and Twins.

Around MLB

Team USA plays against Puerto Rico tonight at 8:00 P.M. Gio Gonzalez gets the start for the Americans.

Bill Baer looks at the decline of Albert Pujols.

That's all I got. Have a great day!
