*** Johan Debut Coming Soon ***
P Johan Santana should hopefully make his Spring debut sometime next week. Manager Terry Collins isn’t worry at all about his opening day start but rather more on his longevity throughout this upcoming season. I like Collins idea here, it’s not about getting his name on the lineup to sell tickets but rather, the bigger picture at stake. I’d rather see 30 starts then rushing things just to have him there to have another shortened season due to injury.
*** K-ROD Reunion? ***
We all remember Francisco Rodriguez, "K-Rod" to the Queens, NY faithful. While he was one of our best closers in team history, there is a very small chance he’d even get another chance with the team. While I miss his crazy/dramatic pitching, I don’t think he is the direction we need to close games. He’s currently a free agent and there is a reason why he is.
*** Byrd to Start? ***
INF Marlon Byrd has had a solid Spring and is slated to hopefully be a starter in our outfield, which is a HUGE question mark this season as a whole. If he can step up, be the veteran that he is in the clubhouse, it’ll be one less thing to worry about. I see him starting in our right field.
