I'm no gm but i believe there are a few things the Mets coud do to make them a lot better. First off let's see what they don't need. First base is filled with Ike (he'll get out of his slump), third base has Wright, Tejada takes care of shortstop, Murphy is at second, and D'Arnaud is at catcher. Rotation: Harvey, Wheeler, Niese, Montero, and Gee(i would consider signing Garza instead). Closer: Parnell. They need outfielders. Start with free agency. They're supposed to have more cash next year so i would go after Hunter Pence. That makes two more left. Although Giancarlo Stanton would be awesome, i would not give up Wheeler AND D'Arnaud. Someone i really like is Carlos Gonzalez. I would offer the Rockies: Syndegard, Tapia, Mazzoni, and, Fulmer. Now we have two good outfielders. Before we continue let's talk about Wilmer Flores. Once considered the "Next Miguel Cabrera," Flores has played some second base in triple A. I would rather have him over Murphy. Now back to the final outfielder. They need a leadoff hitter so they need an outfielder with speed. I've always liked Peter Bourjos from the Angels. The Angels have many outfielders and need a catcher and the Mets have John Buck. I suggest this trade at the deadline: Angels get: Buck and Murphy. Mets get: Bourjos.
