Trades and Signings That The Mets Should Look into

The Mets are not far off from having a contending team. Wright, Tejada, Murphy, and Ike are the only offensive pieces that can be part of a contending team. That being said they also have D'Arnaud coming up to be their everyday catcher. That leaves them with the outfield. The Mets will have money to spend next free agency but they could look into some trades at the deadline. There are many teams looking for a closer. Even though the Mets dont want to trade Parnell, they could for the right package. The Tigers could be the perfect trading partner. With Jose Valverde not working, they could be willing to part with some prospects for Parnell. I would start by asking for their best prospect: 3B/LF Nick Castellanos. The 21 year old is batting .296 with 11 homers and43 RBI's. I would also ask for their 2nd best prospect, Bruce Rondon, who was supposed to be their future closer and can replace Parnell. The next guy i would go after would be Giancarlo Stanton. I would try to give up a package of Noah Syndegard, Rafael Montero, Wilmer Flores, Michael Fulmer, and Domingo Tapia. I feel like this might be enough to persuade the Marlins to give up Stanton. I like Eric Young Jr. to move to center to be our leadoff hitter if he keeps this up. If he doesnt i would sign Jacoby Ellsbury. In Free Agency I would also sign Matt Garza. That way the Mets look like this:

1-CF-Elsburry

2-2B-Murphy

3-3B-Wright

4-RF-Stanton

5-1B-Davis

6-LF-Castellanos

7-C-D'Arnaud

8-SS-Tejada

1-Harvey

2-Wheeler

3-Niese

4-Garza

5-Gee

CP-Rondon
