AAA - Las Vegas 51s (68-56)__________________________________

NEW ORLEANS 2, LAS VEGAS 3 (Box)

Rafael Montero had perhaps his best game of the season Thursday night, striking out eight and walking none over seven scoreless innings to lead Las Vegas to a 3-2 victory. For Montero, it was his fourth straight excellent start, during which he has gone 28 IP, 16 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 28 K. He lowered his AAA ERA to 3.25. Between the emergence of Mejia, the continued success of Montero, and the marauding Syndergaard, the 2014 Mets starting rotation is going to be crowded. This is an excellent problem to have.

AA - Binghamton Mets (77-47)_____________________________________

BINGHAMTON 9, READING 3 (Box)

The B-Mets strung together six hits to plate five runs in the seventh and put this one out of reach. Binghamton got a solid outing from Greg Peavey, who was making just his third start of the season after presumably returning from the DL. The win put the B-Mets 30 games over .500, which is just absurd. It's been fun watching them smack around the Eastern League this year. They've done it with above average hitting, solid starting pitching, and a phenomenal bullpen. Seriously, check out this bullpen: Chase Huchingson (59.2 IP, 1.66 ERA), Adam Kolarek (57.2, 1.87), Jeff Walters (50, 2.16), John Church (36.2, 3.44), Jack Leathersich (29.1, 1.53), and it goes on from there. The bullpen has been an underrated reason the B-Mets are kicking butt this year.

Hi-A - St. Lucie Mets (28-20 / 65-50)________________________________________

FORT MYERS 5, ST. LUCIE 3 (Box)

Things were going smoothly for Matt Bowman through four innings--he was Byron Buxtoned for a run in the third, but that's to be expected--with four strikeouts and just one walk as he entered the fifth. Things unraveled quickly from there. He started the inning walk, double, walk and then tossed a wild pitch before inducing two groundouts. A triple to the next batter ended Bowman's night, perhaps due to an inning pitch limit, although ineffectiveness would've been just as good a reason. Despite posting a solid ERA since the all-star break, Bowman hasn't pitched all that great. In his last three outings he has gone 14.2 IP, 19 H, 12 R, 12 ER, 8 BB, 12 K.

Lo-A - Savannah Sand Gnats (25-24 / 68-50)__________________________________

SAVANNAH 3, ROME 4 (Box)

A late comeback fell short when Eudy Pina struck out with the tying run on third in the bottom of the eighth after the Gnats had plated three to pull within one. It was Savannah's fourth loss in a row and fifth in their last six. On a positive note, Brandon Nimmo did not strikeout. Also positive; Beck Wheeler tossed a perfect inning of relief, striking out two and walking none. Wheeler now has 66 strikeouts in 44.1 innings.

Short-A - Brooklyn Cyclones (27-27)

BROOKLYN 4, HUDSON VALLEY 6 (Box)

Rk - Kingsport Mets (30-23)_____________________________

BRISTOL 4, KINGSPORT 2 (Box)

Rk - GCL Mets (15-33)_______________________________

GCL CARDINALS 12, GCL METS 2 (Box)
