Yankees Benefits Would Definitely Benefit From A-Rod's Suspension

Buck Showalter made a valid point that if MLB suspends A-Rod as a result of the Biogenesis investigation, the Yankees are more than ready to reap the rewards. Even after admitting to taking PEDs, the Yankees resigned A-Rod in 2007 when he led the AL in runs(143), homers(54) and RBIs(156). Rodriguez helped the Yankees win a championship in 2009, helped sell a ton of tickets and merchandise. Obviously the Yankees benefited from the resigning, yet with A-Rod's fall they won't suffer consequences. They won't lose cap space, no loss of a roster spot. They don't even have to pay him. The only thing they lose is a player they would love to get rid of because they've basically milked everything they can out of him. Wallace Matthews replied to Buck Showalter saying that suspension, or no suspension, the Yankees would still spend on players they wanted. However, even the financial powerhouse that the Yankees are, spending $25M without any results still hurts. The Yankee's current situation thrives on being able to spend on players. I'm not accusing the Yankees of any wrongdoings, but it wouldn't be surprising if years from now there was news that the Yankees offered assistance to the Biogenesis investigation. In short, if the Yankees benefit from A-Rod after it was proven he was a PED user, they should suffer some of the consequences. http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/9527967/buck-showalter-guarantees-new-york-yankees-sign-matt-wieters-alex-rodriguez-suspended-2014-season
