Meet the Mets

Bartolo Colon is in camp and says that he signed with the Mets because they were the only team to offer him a two-year deal. The Mets see Colon as a mentor for their young pitchers.

Matt Harvey is also in camp and today has been difficult for him, as he's come to the realization that he's not going to be able to pitch this year. At Fangraphs, David Laurila spoke with Harvey about the difference between his performance at AAA and in the majors.

The price for Stephen Drew is still too steep for the Mets' liking, though an organization offical apparently thinks the shortstop might fall into the team's lap.

The Mets announced that they'll wear a patch celebrating the life of Ralph Kiner on their jerseys this year.

Kyle Farnsworth is excited to join the Mets after seeing the Pirates end their playoff drought firsthand.

Jeremy Hefner has been cleared to throw and could conceivably make it back by September.

Steve Serby has a Q&A with Noah Syndergaard.

Around the Majors

Great stuff in the Post yesterday about how Alex Rodriguez ended up with the Yankees 10 years ago and how he wanted to be a Met.

The Cubs inked free agent Emilio Bonifacio to a minor league deal.

Mark Mulder's comeback is over before it started, as the lefty ruptured his Achilles during agility drills.

Ryan Howard doesn't want to be a platoon player. He really should be, though.

Yesterday At AA

Brandon Nimmo is the 8th best prospect in the Mets' organization according to our Top 25 Prospect List.
