Flash-forward to June. Thor and Montero come up.
For the sake of discussion, let's say the rotation since the start of the season has been Colon, Wheeler, Niese, Gee and Mejia.
Further, nobody's been injured (different discussion and bad karma to predict who's most likely to go down) and everybody's pitching to pretty much what you could reasonably hope for given their track record.
So, who's most likely to go? And do they go to the bullpen or get traded?
The guy I'd like to see go is Colon. He's got no place in any possible future Mets staff. Eat his salary (the Mets' money woes are behind them, right?), then see what you can get for him before the trading deadline.
Pitching to my upside reasonable expectations, I'd like to think Mejia out pitches Gee. So Gee goes to the bullpen. Then we trade him when Harvey comes back. Unless we package him and Colon to go at the same to increase the return.
