If you have been watching the games and wondering who these guys you never heard of that are playing for the Mets are, let me help you out.
Juan Centeno - Good field no hit backup catcher who's up because d'Arnaud is on the 7 day concussion DL.
Wilmer Flores - Top prospect without a position. Was moved this year to short (where he's pretty bad defensively) from 2B and was brought up recently because he's a MUCH better hitter than Tejada (than again, so is anyone these days). Of course, he has barely played and Tejada started 7 games in a row because "Tejada is hot" according to Terry Collins. Apparently, that has nothing to do with Tejada's hitting, as he's hitting under .200 in the last week (as well as on the season). So that's how Flores is improving the team's offense.
Eric Campbell - Righty part of platoon at 1B. Brought up to replace Satin who wasn't hitting. Can also back up at 3rd or corner OF. Will see most games at 1B when a lefty is pitching.
Rafael Montero - Starting pitcher. A top prospect. Doesn't have incredible stuff but his stuff is good enough and he has incredible control of his pitches. Great minor league numbers. (Think a significantly better version of Gee.)
Jacob DeGrom - Decent prospect who was brought up from starting in AAA to relieve in the pen. Then Gee got hurt before he ever got to pitch in the pen and now DeGrom is in the rotation. Pretty good control and a heavy ground ball pitcher (great sinker).
Josh Edgin - Lefty "specialist" brought up to be 2nd lefty in the pen (and to save 500 grand on Farnsworth). Only talent he has is being even worse (actually significantly worse) than Scott Rice (the "walk in a run specialist"), which most Mets fans didn't know was physically possible.
Juan Lagares - Wait...
