A good day to meet up at Citi Field

So here goes. If you are a AA regular, you probably know that I live in the middle of Africa and have to watch Mets games on Gameday, which is kind of like hearing about the birth of a sibling from your creepy uncle who you hate. But alas, no more for me. Come this summer I am back in NY and to celebrate this occasion I and some of my AA friends--CTRefJay, BobbyVIncognito, and one of the Steves (I'll let you guess which one...hint: he embiggens)-- are planning a day on the Pepsi Porch on Saturday, July 12. We wanted to open up the opportunity to emerge from mom's basement and to trade Hot Pockets for Shake Shack to all of you people who probably don't even drink beer while you watch baseball (caveat: if you're over 21 you are welcome as well).

Will saying AA memes in person be awkward? Sure it will! Will realizing that the people you talk about baseball online with have other interests and lives outside of your comfort zone be weird? YES! And that's why this is awesome. Will AA All-Stars such as Eric Simon and R.A. Dickey be on hand to sign autographs? No.

Why Saturday July, 12, against the Marlins? First, fish are delicious, and healthy. For what will go on being healthy in at least one respect is a plus. Second, it is a 4:15 start, which gives you plenty of time to overcome your Friday hangover and walk up the basement steps, with plenty of time to involve yourself in the requisite ribaldry of Saturday night. Third, after the game is a Huey Lewis and the News concert, which will both make you feel like it's 1986 again and provide unintentional hilarity for posts to come.

So we'll be on the Pepsi Porch that day. Come one, come all.
