New York Mets' Midseason Awards

As we head to the All-Star break, The Mets finished off the first half with a strong homestand going 8-2 against the Rangers, Braves, and Marlins. The Mets have a 45-50 record. For those who are wondering, the Mets would have to 45-22 to achieve 90 wins. Long shot, but I just like to show off my great math skills.

So, with the All-Star Break upon us. I will like to give out my New York Mets’ midseason MVP, biggest surprise, and biggest disappointment.

Mets’ Midseason MVP : Daniel Murphy : Murphy has been fantastic with the bat in the 1st half. Murphy possess a .294/.342/.413 line. Daniel Murphy is 4th in the NL with hits (113), and owns a 2.6 WAR rating.

Biggest Surprise: I was thinking Carlos Torres at first because i didn't expect to be so effective out of the pen. But my vote goes to Lucas Duda, who would expect him to be productive for us at this time of the year. Coming out of spring training, Duda was battling with Ike Davis to win the 1st base job. When the Mets traded Ike Davis in April, Lucas Duda was given the opportunity to take control of 1st base. Lucas Duda has put up solid numbers across the board. Duda possesses a .256/.352/.480 line. Duda also has a wRC+ of 136 and a WAR of 1.5.

Biggest Disappointment: Chris Young : It should come to no surprise that he has not lived up to expectations when he inked a 1 year/7.5 deal with the Mets. Chris Young’s ineptness on offense isn't the only thing that disappointed the Mets faithful. Young’s defense has been awful and it was expected to be his strength coming to CitiField.

I would love to hear your guys Mets’ Midseason MVP, biggest surprise, and biggest disappointment out of the 1st Half.
