AAOP: WKRP in Flushing

So close.

Oh, so close. Did I mention it was close? Well, it was close. We’ll see a World Series team lose a fair share of its major contributors to free agency. Daniel Murphy & Yeonis Cespedes made this team, well, this team. It’s going to be sad to see them go, but at the same time, it’s time to let go. Tata for now!

So… Just some minor tweaks to get this back on track? Um… Nah. With this pitching, the window washing of opportunity needs not be squandered. And since I have heard from another beer related poster on this site who has knowledge of someone who heard something from someone who may or may not know a thing or two about future payroll allocations, don't worry about the future. Or was that the past... Hmmm, either way, away we go!

Non-Chicken Tenders:

Eric Young Jr., Carlos Torres, Buddy Carlyle, Anthony Recker, Jennry Mejia, Addison Reed.

Tough to let the family go, but, times, they are a changin’…

TRAIDZ!

Joey Votto for Lucas Duda, Zack Wheeler, Dominic Smith and Ahmed Rosario. Damn, that’s a haul. And damn, that’s one big paycheck for a first baseman. But, it’s Votto! Since 2010, his wRC+ goes like this. 172, 157, 178, 155, 122, 172. His steamer (which is a horrible name) for next year is 145. He’s a monster, I tell you. A monster.

Marcell Ozuna for Robert Gsellman and Wulmer Becerra. Loria hates the Ozuna. We lovez the Ozuna. Can play all the OF positions. He won’t come cheap, yet he won’t be too expensive.

Carson Smith for Juan Lagares, Josh Edgin and Akeel Morris – Seattle needs a CF, Mets need a solid BP guy. Did I want to do this trade? No. Not really, but Seattle needs a CF and Lagares upside and youth helps get this done. Adding Morris might make this an overpay, but it covers SEA's immediate needs in CF, backfills their BP spot and adds a nice prospect in Morris. Smith, as a 27 year old, had a solid 2nd year. Plus, he's cheap. Cheap and good is good.

Michael Cuddyer for no one – His value is crap and he’s coming off an injury. If you think you are getting many millions in relief in trade value, pass the pipe this way. He stays, does magic tricks and backs up 1B.

SIGNZ!

Denard Span – 3 years, 39 million. Structured as 12/13/14 Mil per year, just for this AAOP. Adds a top of the lineup and veteran presents in such a way that Santa Claus would be proud.

Ww2RUuN.0.jpg

Shawn Kelley – 3 years, 15 million. We lost an Irishman. We need one back. One that can pitch. And can pitch well. From the bullpen and stuff.

wwHGXRM.0.jpg

Juan Uribe – 2 years, 11 million. Those clothes… Oh, those clothes. Oh, and he's actually decent and I want no part of Kelly Johnson playing for extended periods of time should Wright's back snap.

Jerry Blevins – 1 year, 2 million. Why the hell not.
