Earlier today, Wilmer Flores left the Mets' spring training game after fouling a ball off of his foot. He left the stadium with that foot in a boot and was sent for x-rays, which have come back negative, per Marc Carig of Newsday. So Flores has a bruised foot and will continue to wear the boot for "a day or two," per Carig.
That's good news for the Mets, as any sort of broken bone would have definitely put Flores on the shelf for a little while. If things go as planned and he's back within the next few days, the team won't have to go about fielding two replacements in the middle infield. Daniel Murphy is currently out with a hamstring injury and could begin the season on the disabled list.
The Mets' top choice for shortstop heading into the season, Flores has acquitted himself nicely at the plate and in the field in spring training. Of course, it's spring training. In 274 big league plate appearances last year, he hit .251/.286/.378 with six home runs and an 88 wRC+.
