Jacob deGrom did not have his best stuff, and the Mets offense was unable to bail him out, resulting in the Mets dropping the first game of the series against the Cubs. Tonight, they look forward to the highly anticipated major league debut of Noah Syndergaard.

The Mets received updates on several injured players yesterday. Bobby Parnell pitched in a game for the Port St. Lucie Mets and allowed three earned runs. Dillon Gee will begin rehabbing his groin in Port St. Lucie. Finally, Travis d'Arnaud was cleared to do more activity, and is expected to swing a bat in a week.
The Mets could receive another blow to their already hurting bullpen. Buddy Carlyle experienced back spasms while covering first base last night. He has also been bothered by a tight hamstring recently.
The Mets have a pair of aces in Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom. Despite their similar on-the-field success, the two are extremely different off the field.

The Phillies lost to the Pirates 4-3. They now have the worst record in baseball. In addition, they optioned Cody Asche to Triple-A, and could potentially promote Maikel Franco.
The Nationals stayed scorching hot with an 11-1 win over the Diamondbacks. Max Scherzer went seven innings and allowed just one run.
The Marlins fell to the Dodgers by a score of 5-3. The Marlins led in the ninth inning, but closer Steve Cishek allowed the Dodgers to earn a walk-off victory.
The Braves pulled out a 2-1 win over the Reds. The Braves scored the game winning run in the top of the ninth due to a wild pitch from Aroldis Chapman.

Barry Bonds is preparing to sue Major League Baseball for colluding against him in 2007. Bonds alleges he was effectively blackballed from signing with another team.
The Astros have promoted shortstop prospect Carlos Correa to Triple-A. Correa was destroying Double-A pitching with a .385/.459/.726 line.
After initially being demoted to Triple-A out of spring training, Danny Salazar is dominating for the Indians. For the season, he has a 3.27 ERA with a 48/5 K/BB ratio.
The Giants are "making progress" towards signing Ricky Romero. The 30-year-old was an All Star several years ago, but has since struggled and was demoted to the minors.
