The Mets allowed the most hits they've allowed all season, and the offense could do little against Michael Wacha, as the Cardinals evened the series versus the Amazins tonight with a 10-2 win at Citi Field.
The Cardinals scored one run in the first, second, third, and fourth innings to jump out to a 4-0 lead, but Daniel Murphy cut that in half in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run homer to right. However, any hope the Amazins had of getting back in the game was dashed in the absolute bloodbath that was the top of the sixth inning. The Cardinals scored six runs, with four of them being charged to Mets' starter Jon Niese and the other two to Erik Goeddel to put the game well out of reach for the Amazins.
In terms of good news, Darrell Ceciliani singled in his first at-bat in the major leagues. That's about it.
