The Mets lost to the Dodgers 3-2 on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. The game started with a fizzle, as Jacob deGrom got knocked for two runs in the first inning. deGrom settled down, though, and those were the only runs he allowed in a season-high seven innings. The Mets got their runs early, as well, on an error by Chase Utley and a Kevin Plawecki single in the second.
Then, nobody scored for seven innings. A bunch of runners left on base, baserunning nightmares, a few defensive shows—but nobody crossed the plate. It was nearly 1:00 a.m. eastern time when Hansel Robles entered the game, and he got two outs before Trayce Thompson hit a walk-off solo home run to end the game.
