Bobby V. feels sad for the Mets....
Bobby Valentine said on a conference call today that he considers himself a Mets fan, and he is disappointed in their 2009 season, which he described as a ‘tragedy.’ According to Valentine, there is an out-clause in his contract that will allow him to take a job managing in MLB. Valentine would not say if he is or isn’t interested in managing the Mets again.

ESPN Player Rater
Does anyone know the formula for ESPN's Fantasy Baseball Player Rater? I know it's complete bullshit, but I'm wondering if anyone can find out/knows what the formula is.
Why are you a Mets fan?
I don't mean philosophically, I mean how did you come to root for the Mets. Were your parents Mets fans, were the Mets your first exposure to baseball, or was it something else?
Your One Big Move
If you were GM and could make one big move this offseason, what would it be, if anything at all? edit: Keeping in mind realistic trades and budget constraints.

The Mets won't finish at .500
Don't know if this has been discussed, and it really doesn't matter, but I just realized that to finish at .500 for the year, the Mets need to go 24-12 over the last 36 games.

Bobby Parnell as a starter?
So, small sample size notwithstanding, I really loved his line tonight. Not only that, his breaking pitches were working very well for him to night, particularly his slider which was downright filthy. Given that his last start was about as different as night and day and to steal a line from SNY, Bobby Parnell could be a good #4-5 starter, Boom or Bust? I haven't made up my mind yet, and I'm curious as to what you all think

BJ Upton this offseason?
BJ Upton's value seems to have tanked this season, and he's been giving the Rays a headache of late. Do you think the Rays might trade him this offseason? I'm inclined to say that he'd be a great buy low guy. If the Rays were to put him on the trading block, who would the Mets likely have to give up? Would you make that deal? I figured I'd just throw this idea out there. I'm relatively new to AA and have never really dabbled in trade speculation, so feel free to tell me if this is a completely ridiculous question to ask.
What would you grade Mike Pelfrey's season/development for 2009?
Big Pelf has been pretty inconsistent so far this year, so I was just wondering what everyone thinks of his season so far in terms of his development moving fowards. I think he has shown flashes of being a solid number two starter, but again, he's been very inconsistent. I'm as big of a Pelfrey supporter as anyone, so I'm not trying to criticize him. What do y'all think?
Jeff Francoeur : Does his Defense at RF justify the Mets possibly keeping him?
I mean...I know this argument has been done to death as far as Church and Frenchy go. But I see Frenchy has a way better arm than Church did. We all know about OBP and all that business regarding Frenchy so I won't open that can of worms again. I just want to get everyone's opinion on whether his DEFENSE being good enough to warrant the Mets holding on to him in the foreseeable future.
