The Top 50 Mets Of All Time

We began compiling this list in December 2006 with the best intentions, but by early 2007 it was obvious that rolling it out would take far longer than anticipated. By early 2008, the idea of completing the list became a running joke, and by 2009 we had all but abandoned any hope of finishing all 50. What's more, the process by which we arrived at the original list — objectively based on WARP3 with minor subjective re-sequencing based on importance to the franchise, postseason performance, and so forth — bordered on obsolescence.

In April 2011 we re-launched the Top 50 Mets list, this time based objectively on rWAR with the same kind of subjective reshuffling we applied to the original. If you're interested, the 19 completed profiles from the original list can be found below in all their glory.
