St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals re-signed pitching coach Dave Duncan on Friday to a one-year deal with an option for the 2010 season.
Duncan, the team's pitching coach since 1996, has served in that role under Tony La Russa for the White Sox, Athletics and Cardinals since 1983.
"We are extremely pleased to have Dave returning," said Cardinals vice president/general manager John Mozeliak. "He has a tremendous reputation in baseball and among players, and his ability to work with and make successful a diverse pitching staff is a talent we feel privileged to keep with the Cardinals."
Duncan, 62, just completed his 29th season as a pitching coach, the most years spent at the position by one man in major-league history.
