Former Yankee Tommy Tresh dies

Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Former New York Yankees infielder/outfielder Tommy Tresh died Wednesday. He was 71 years old.
Tresh was the American League Rookie of the Year in 1962 when he batted .286 with 20 home runs and 93 runs batted in to help the Yankees capture the World Series. He played on two more American League pennant winners in 1963 and '64.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Tresh began his career as a shortstop but spent most of his time in the outfield. He was a Gold Glove winner as an outfielder in 1965.
The three-time All-Star finished his career in 1969 as a .245 hitter with 153 homers and 530 RBI. He also hit four home runs in 18 World Series games.
