Mets Clinch Date Pool (Update)

Okay, last week I posted a diary about doing a pool to pick the Mets' clinch date. Kingcritical was nice enough to front page it and a few folks responded, so here's the update.

I'll put new predictions in through this Sunday, August 20. Tiebreakers below the fold (post them in this diary).

Sunday evening, August 20
Mets Magic Numbers (39 GL) (W vs. Colorado, 2-0)
Philadelphia 26 (39) (W vs. Washington, 12-10)
Atlanta 23 (39) (L at Florida, 4-3)
Florida 22 (39) (W vs. Atlanta, 4-3)
Washington 18 (38) (L at Philadelphia, 12-10)

[Update - 8/20, 9:00 PM EDT] Sixteen participants so far. No cheating, now - make your picks before checking everyone else's...

Tiebreakers (can be added after the cutoff date, if you've made a prediction already)

1 - Will the clinch be a Mets win (MW) or Opponents Loss (OL)?

2 - How many total runs will be scored in the Mets game that either clinches, or the game before (if it's on an opponents' loss).

This should do it for tiebreakers, though I'm open to further suggestion. No prizes for the winners (as yet), though maybe we'll qualify for some snazzy AmazinAvenue merchandise...

By the way...

... I like running pools and contests like this, I think it helps get people interested in participating. I've been trying to come up with some other ideas like this for the playoffs, or maybe even a "World Series of Mets Blogs" where some of the regulars from AA can have a friendly challenge with other Met blogs. Or maybe a crossover challenge with our playoff opponent's sister blog. Just a thought.

If anyone has any ideas along this line down the stretch, let me know and I'd be happy to try to put something together.

what happens if mets clinch on 9/13, but they go through on an opponent win? is it still decided by the game score?

Yes, it goes to the second tiebreaker...

... which is total runs scored, in this case, in the Met game before the clincher. So far there are two possibilites that could necessitate a third tiebreaker, I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

When's the cutoff date for this?

Anyway, if I'm not too late to join in, I pick 9/16 in Pittsburgh. Mets win clinches it, 7 runs. I wanted to say 6 runs, but then I saw thefuturetheWrightway already had that.
