Marlins Set to Deal Cabrera, Willis to Detroit
The Marlins and Tigers have reached a preliminary agreement on a bona fide blockbuster deal that would ship perennial Met killers Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis out of town.
The keys to the deal for Florida are outfielder Cameron Maybin and LHP Andrew Miller. Detroit will also send two other prospects to the Marlins.
In the short term, this deal helps the Mets (and the Phillies and the Braves). The Marlins' lineup just became much easier to pitch to, and their rotation -- Willis's sub-par 2007 notwithstanding -- is much less formidable.
UPDATE [7:20pm]: The Tigers are apparently including "catcher Mike Rabelo and three other minor league pitchers". [ESPN.com]

MLB is awful...
It's disgusting. MLB makes money hand over fist. I feel sorry for fans of these teams.

Serious question
The Braves are pretty competitive every year, winning what was it, 15 straight division titles? Sure they only won 1 WS, but they were always involved in the playoffs.
The Marlins get a good team together ever 5-7 years or so, win a WS, and then sell off the pieces and rebuild for another run in the next few years.
My answer: I think I would pick the Braves. As a baseball fan, all I ask is that my team has a chance every year and goes for it every once in a while when they think they have a shot (Braves made some nice moves down the stretch last season.) While the WS are great, wouldn't the intervening years be brutal? Plus, you would have to assume they couldn't sustain such a model, right?
So what does everyone else think?
