Why does
Willie hate Lastings Milledge? Marlon Anderson is starting in center today, and Delcos says will be for the near future. I have to say, I'm puzzled.

I posted this yesterday
Willie "I Like Veterans" Randolph likes veterans. There's no other answer.

I believe the only guys under 30 in our lineup and Reyes and Wright. Tis a shame.

this a unbelievable bad decision
no matter what Anderson does with the bat
its a ground ball...trickling... its a fair ball, its by Buckner, rounding third Knight, the Mets will win the ballgame, the Mets win!!!

Save the Mets. Impeach Willie.
No disrespect to the impeach W movement, of course.

ok so the wheels are coming off early
but my guess they will be staying off for awhile. Very, very bad  omens here. Ollie has best stuff on the staff, but a pretty bad head

Alou, Anderson and Green
in outfield with a fly ball pitcher in. I have defended Willie over the last year or so, but this is ridiculous. He's been looking sad lately. Perhaps, it's the pain in his arm, but it's going to his head.

Marlon!
He's always been able to provide us with a well-timed jack.

A wild one so far
I still remember Marlon's inside the park homer against the Angels, gotta love that

this one could get messy
I was there for the inside the parker.

Shea was going N-U-T-S. I've never heard anything like it in person.

Nice
I could be wrong, but wasn't it in the 9th inning? I seem to remember some late inning heroics off K-Rod
aka Rob

yeah
1 out in the 9th, down by 1

Then Floyd won it in the with 2 out in the 10th with a long bomb after Eyechart let a run in with an error.

Thats right
I forgot about Floyds homerun. Floyd was insane in '05

But pitch count getting up there. I'm not eager to see that bullpen again

I'd like to know why
Willie is actually considering bringing Mota in. Ah, but of course: Mota is a veteran, which gives him infallibility.

That's interesting
You don't see Rick visiting Wags on the mound much (not this year, anyway).

It seems we're all agreed on freeing
Milledge. If only we could figure out a way to impress that upon Willie. When Beltran gets back, Milledge should still be playing as much as possible, allowing Alou to rest and platooning with Green, sparing us from seeing him do those belly flops in RF. What was the deal tonight? Did he think Marlon was the better choice just because he bats lefty?

John Delcos
is reporting that Willie plans do this as regularly for the near future.

In other stuff, I shook my fist tonight
at Mother Nature. How dare she rain out Pedro's first minor league rehab start? Man, I was so psyched for it. Even just 45 pitches -- I was going to be on the edge of my seat. Oh well. I'll just have to wait for next time.

Ditto
On the fist-shaking and the excitedness. I would have come home early from work if the game were during the day.

I was inspired by Eric's comment that Olerud had the best 3-year run as a Met outside Carlos Beltran to look at a few different Mets, and when I noticed that two of my all-time favorite players (Alfonzo and Strawberry) were kinda screwed by having (relatively)bad seasons in between some really good seasons, I decided to see which Mets had the best 3 seasons, period (non-consecutively). Beltran still comes out on top, but my all-time favorite player Alfonzo comes in 2nd place, and him and Straw are the only two to have three 6.0+ WAR seasons. Also interesting that Hundley comes out ahead of Gary Carter, Cleon Jones almost finishes ahead of Mike Piazza, and Joe McEwing doesn't make the list.
