Going to the game
Finding Tix for it has been tough but I think I just picked up some lower level tix for $50 each through a friend of a friend.  UPPER DECK were going for $90+ on craigslist, and bleachers in the same range, so if it comes through this is looking good!

All the other NL East teams
have won today. Be nice to add a win as well to keep pace. Not to mention getting Tommy G to 300 and taking the series

. Also, I have to deal with this (via myspace) from my friend Jaclyn, a Cubs fan: "The Mets will be sorry they ever came to Chicago!!!! WHO won the game yesterday? Yeah that what I thought...and it was not that team from NY. Keep talking because to me all I hear is quack, quack, quack. "

NOW it's personal.

This is gonna be awesome
Sunday Night Baseball, Wrigley Field, Tommy going for #300 against some big hitters. The perfect prelude to our big series against the Braves at Shea.

I have been informed that it should be pronounced a-LOW, not a-LEW.

by ivy on Aug 5, 2007 10:49 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

A-Loo
I think people have been pronouncing it that way since Moises' dad and uncles first came up.  Someone should have said something back in the 60s.

The error did indeed start in the sixties
"Their name is commonly pronounced "ah-LOO," but the correct pronunciation is actually "ah-LOH." Apparently Felipe's minor league manager called him that, and he didn't feel it was his place to correct him. He and all his family have been called "ah-LOO" ever since."

Suggestion for ESPN:
use a split-screen, with one half showing the game and the other showing Chris Glavine. That way we at least won't be interrupted with her.
