Open Thread - Game 143: Mets vs. Braves (09/10/2007) on SNY

Source: mlb.com

Tale of the tape:

Perez Hudson
ERA 3.46 3.47
FIP 4.38 3.37
K/9 8.73 5.32
BB/9 4.04 2.17
K/BB 2.16 2.45
HR/9 1.17 0.37
WHIP 1.30 1.23
GB/FB 0.65 2.88
BABIP .279 .299
eBABIP .289 .293

Que se dillio:

Oliver Perez has been stinking up the joint of late, posting a 5.22 ERA over his last seven starts. Tim Hudson hasn't been a whole lot better, pitching to the tune of a 4.81 ERA over his last seven. Something's gotta give!

Talking Chop
Eric: Please stop linking over there, they don't even talk about the game, they just do predictions for the game.

Doesn't make sense to link over there, it would work  if they actually did talk about the game to get their viewpoint.

fuck the heck?
You're right -- what's wrong with them?  No discussion of the actual games at all.  I guess lame blogging is just another reason to hate/pity Braves fans, after all.

Braves fans
don't have much to root for this year anyway :-) At least they can now concentrate on their football team with that speedy QB...oh wait, nevermind haha

That's absolutely
Horrible, in a funny kind of way.

There's a location

Haha!
Well, I'm in Fargo which is becoming fairly large, but yeah there's not much around in any direction. But I'm usually too busy working to worry about that anyway.

by The Irresistable Force on Sep 10, 2007 7:56 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

i actually have relatives in Aneta
but i have no idea where that is and have never been. I hear it is very small and flat.

by kendynamo on Sep 10, 2007 8:00 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Haven't heard of it
but there's definitely a lack of hills around, one of the reasons why it's so cold in the winter, nothing to stop the crazy wind from whipping through

by The Irresistable Force on Sep 10, 2007 8:03 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I live in
Minneapolis, but I am a vegetarian. I didn't really like White Castle when I ate meat, to be completely honest though.

In N Out all the way.

Some kind of sinkerballer pitching clinic out there.  I don't know if Pelfrey really has that kind of stuff, though.

He's got
plenty of time to develop it

Nice
to see Reyes get on base twice (so far) in a game, feels like it's been a while

leading to
#75 for Jose

by The Irresistable Force on Sep 10, 2007 8:48 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

No Bunt
I would let Castillo swing. The most likely kind of out is a 4-3 ground out which would advance the runner anyway.

and when you play for one run, lots of times that's all you get

Keep Lastings Milledge Free

by DoctorK16 on Sep 10, 2007 8:53 PM EDT   0 recs

He really deserves it this year.
If you take away the two Marlins, who won't get it because their team is in the toilet, no one in the league deserves the MVP more than Wright.  I can't really see a fair argument for choosing Fielder or Howard or whoever else at this point.

by anonymous on Sep 10, 2007 9:02 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I still think that Fielder will win it
The writers are just obtuse about this stuff. See Jon Heyman anti-VORP rant a couple weeks back. Hence the guy with the most HR and RBI will win.

Nope
not when he was playing. But he had been coaching in the Braves minor league system for a few years so I wasn't THAT surprised when he replaced Mazzone

Was wondering
more about Steve Chilcott after seeing your signature (and from that game thread a few days ago). It gets worse, according to wikipedia: "Through 2005, Chilcott and Brien Taylor are the only number-one picks in the baseball draft to retire without ever reaching the major leagues."

by The Irresistable Force on Sep 10, 2007 9:22 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Jeez...
Too bad I cant fit any more of the embarassing pick into my Sig >.>
