The Marlins pair must have been slumping a bit of late, because Wright actually leads both in WARP and EqA. He might actually be the legitimate MVP.

Yeah, him or Pujols

He's also been slumping though. David could end up with a 12.0 WARP3, which I just did not see coming this year. Beltran's actually creeping up into the top 5 again this year. What a bounceback he's had after that rough stretch.

Jose was way up there with Pujols all summer, in the 11.0-11.5 range, but he's been backsliding tremendously. As long as his woes at the plate don't affect his defense, I can live with it.

That's why...

RBI's are a silly stat.

They tell a small fraction of the story.

Yet, all you hear when someone comes up to the plate is "He's at .282 with 4 homers and 22 RBI." Good god, that tells me NOTHING! What is he slugging??

Bring back Mo

IMO Gomez is not ready to hold be an everyday major league OF as a hitter. Milledge is as that missile into the left field pen just showed. Plus I doubt the Mets would turn both corner OF spots to kids. Alou is nice stop gap and the Mets have an option on him anyway.

with the kind of incentive-laden deal Valentin got. The guy can obviously still rake, but he's an injury waiting to happen, and one of these years, he won't recover from an injury.

Love this game

Everybody gets to hit. And, playing for two straight games for the first time since who knows when, what a great game from Milledge--a 2 hits, a homer AND a walk. The kid really should just be stuck in right and let to play and play and play.

And really, it wasn't even that bad a game for Pelfrey. A hell of a lot of hits, to be sure, but so many were singles, and ground ball singles at that. Ground ball pitchers will have nights like that. His GB-FB was 9-4. More nights like that and he'll be just fine.

I know Gary and Keith need to be diplomatic, but how about crediting the craptastic play of Milwaukee and Chicago instead of Tony LaRussa for the fact that the Cards could go into 1st place tonight? Once again, just like last year, the only reason St. Louis isn't buried is that they play in the most goddamn awful division in baseball.
