Amazin' Avenue, a New York Mets community

This is just a laughably awful article from Bob Klapisch that I felt the need to link to here. Here's the money quote: "The Mets, of course, soon will be trading Beltran, which means it’s Reyes who matters now. general manager Sandy Alderson, who’s historically kept his distance from base stealers with low on-base percentages like Reyes, has reversed course and is willing to hang on to his mercurial shortstop — even if his industry peers can’t understand why" Apparently Bob Klapisch either doesn't understand what constitutes a "low on base percentage" or he doesn't know how to use Google to research baseball statistics. Probably both. Pretty funny this came out on the same day that it was officially confirmed that Jose is going nowhere.

The headline in the print version reads "Life's a boar in the Mets tranquil camp". I was horrified by the misuse of the word until I read the following: PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – It is 9 a.m. at Tradition Field, the start of another ripple-free day in Mets camp. GM Omar Minaya strolls through the clubhouse without his cellphone after finishing a cardio workout. The players, with a half-hour to kill before the beginning of the workout, use a severed boar’s head – a real one, slaughtered by reliever Tom Martin last year – to terrify Jose Reyes (with success) and David Wright (without).
