Double-A Binghamton starting pitcher Brandon Moore was suspended for 50 games by MLB today for a second violation of baseball's minor league drug policy. The violation apparently involved a 'drug of abuse'; so hopefully he's doing the pot as opposed to riding the white dragon.
Moore posted a 4.47 ERA over 25 starts for Binghamton in 2011. He is scheduled for an appearance in the Arizona Fall League this October and though the suspension won't begin until the start of the 2012 season, who knows if we'll see him out in AZ.
On a (probably) unrelated note, the Mets also fired their minor League Pitching Coordinator Rick Tomlin today. Tomlin was appointed to that role last winter, after the club let go of Rick Waits.
So rough night for pitching in the Mets system huh?
