An Interesting Look at Buffalo's Bid for Major League Baseball

Back in 1969 Buffalo, NY almost got the franchise that would become the Montreal Expos.

Matt Harvey loses perfect game in the 5th inning, hits first pro HR

The Bisons won 12-1. Matt Harvey finished with a line of 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K. He threw 90 pitches, 66 for strikes. Josh Edgin pitched a perfect 8th, but gave up a run in the ninth on a walk and a double. He was relieved by Jeff Stevens, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, who proceeded to get the final out with a K.

Josh Satin (finally) Promoted to Buffalo

...and the Daily Farm System Report community goes wild! For anyone that doesn't know, Josh Satin is basically the Nick Evans of the Mets minors. He's been deserving of a promotion since about Opening Day. He crushed Eastern League pitching to the tune of .325/.423/.538, 11 homers, a league-leading 35 doubles and an incredible 45 game on-base streak. Yet even as Buffalo's roster began to resemble something out of the Mexican Leagues he toiled in Binghamton. But no longer...

Blue And Orange: One Mission Accomplished

A look at the improved Buffalo Bisons roster. The Mets made a promise to the city of Buffalo to improve their AAA team and it appears they have.

Omar Takes a Trip to Buffalo

Ridiculous paraphrase per Mike Harrington: "Nick Evans and Eddie Kunz are the likeliest September callups but that non 40-man roster players (think Jesus Feliciano and Adam Bostick) could be called if the big club does not get back in the race and there's playing time available." Elmer Dessens allowed a homer as I created this Fanshot. Playing time is scarce.

Gotta love that Minor League Baseball

Our AAA affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons, are having "Star Wars Night." The picture of Darth Vader getting ready to throw out the first pitch is pretty great. Fans who buy the special $60 ticket package "will receive four reserved seat tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and one souvenir Light Saber!"

More walk-off winning for the Mets

Turns out our boys beat the Braves in walk-off fashion both in Flushing and in Buffalo last night. Buffalo's was a bit more dramatic -- down 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the 11th, the recently healthy Angel Pagan hit a 2-run walk-off triple to win the damn game. Pagan also threw out Gwinett's J.C. Holt at home in the top of the ninth to keep the score tied 1-1. Dillon Gee also turned in another solid performance: 7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7K. Gee was perfect over the first 4.2 innings, and had his no-hitter broken up in the top of the 6th.

In somewhat more positive pitching news . . .

Dillon Gee scattered six hits over seven innings, giving up only one run in Buffalo's 5-1 win yesterday over the Louisville Bats. Only 1 K, but no walks. Also, check out the video of Fartinez's home run to right field. Impressive.
