Grission101

With many AAOP's being posted, it seems that a common idea in all of them is that in order to compete, we actually need to fill the Mets with talented players. I'm disappointed in the AA community for actually thinking that unnecessary things like having power, speed or good pitchers will make the Mets good again. We don't need any of that nonsense. What we need is some good old fashioned grission. This is why, for step A of my brief offseason plan, I suggest that all we do is enroll each of our players in GRISSION 101. Soon enough, we'll have enough grission to carry us to a World Series title. The class is taught by none other than, Mr. Grission himself, David Eckstein! Step B is more of a long term plan. Having spent only a couple thousand dollars total for these classes, the Mets will have over one hundred million dollars to spend elsewhere. Every year, we invest this $100 million in a Swedish research facility where they'll develop cloning technology. By 2016, we will be able to clone David Eckstein into 25 separate David Ecksteins to fill our roster with. Embiggen

  3. Seriously, can we please stop arguing about this?

Berg: Character Guys Like Alex Cora

Regular Amazin' Avenue readers also probably read Ted Berg's newish blog Tedquarters, but if not you should. In the linked post, he discusses Alex Cora and the concept of having "character guys" in the clubhouse. It should be required reading for all Met fans. The Cora contract situation is more interesting to me than the nonsensical trade and free agent rumors floating around right now. If he is brought back for $2 million I think we can officially say there is no hope for this front office.
