Hit Tracker: Citi Field Has "Robbed" 36 Home Runs

Through 37 games at Citi Field, the Mets and their opponents have been robbed of 36 homers that likely would have been gone at Shea Stadium. David Wright has been robbed 6 times. Only 2 homers have been hit at Citi that would not have been gone at Shea - both hit by Chase Utley.

A look at the Astros Starting Pitchers using Hit/Fx: Friday food for thought

A more nuanced approach to looking that struggle Brandon Backe and the other 2008 Astros Starting Pitchers had at keeping the ball in the ball park. Includes an out a limb prediction that we'll probably see less home run trots with an Astros' starter grimacing on the mound.

Will Leitch appears to be mostly wrong

In a piece about the Mets' projected rotation Will Leitch of NY Magazine writes: "...the new Citi Field, which Mets players who have tried out the stadium say is a "launching pad." (Perhaps the most underreported story of the Mets off-season: That Citi is expected to be a homer-happy park.)" Leitch is apparently basing his assertion off of the roughly 1 hour of BP Wright, Murphy and Evans took a few months back. Compare to Greg Rybarczyk of the excellent Hit Tracker, who declared Citi the "MLB's new Grand Canyon." Who ya got? Will, Mr. Deadspin himself, or Greg, a man who spends many of his wakings hours analyzing ballparks and their effect on home runs?

Citi Field: Where Home Runs Go To Die

Nobody knew what kind of playability to expect from the Mets' new home. Until now.
