Binghamton's RHP Jeurys Familia to DL


According to a Binghamton Mets press release, 'RHP Jeurys Familia placed on Binghamton (AA) disabled list retroactive to July 14 (right shoulder impingement)." The organization insisted that Familia missed time lately in order to 're-energize' as he's on pace to pitch far more innings in 2011 than ever before. Bingo pitching coach Marc Valdes recently stated that Familia would miss another start but insisted that he was 'not hurt'. What's going on here? Whatever, hopefully it's nothing more than a bit of fatigue-related discomfort and he'll be back soon but it does kind of make you wonder if he should have made that start in the first place. Oh and why all the cloak and dagger behavior?

Just in time for his first start in Double-A, we'll take a look at the hot start of one of the Mets top pitching prospects, Jeurys Familia.

Mets Prospect Jeurys Familia to Double-A


After Saturday's game RHP Jeurys Familia was transferred from High-A St. Lucie up to Double-A Binghamton. Through six starts this season the 21-year old had posted a 1.49 ERA with 36 strikeouts and eight walks over 36 innings pitched. Very interesting to see Familia get the call before Harvey, though I doubt he'll be far behind...
