It's been a long, exciting winter for the Mets. Regardless of what you thought of Fred Wilpon prior to the past three months, even the most pessimistic of Mets fans has to admit that he took the necessary steps towards making this club better. Specifically:
- He and his son Jeff have seemingly removed themselves from baseball-related decisions, allowing GM Omar Minaya and his front office to run the day-to-day baseball operations.
- Shelled out the clams to buy the two best free agents on the market, making this team at least 10 wins above replacement better than they were last season.
