Last night's game was so crappy and demoralizing that I couldn't bring myself to write anything today. As I write this the Yankees and Braves are losing, the Marlins already won big, and the Nats and Phillies play later tonight. Ex-Met farmhand Jason Bay has a homerun and two RBI tonight and is hitting .300/.387/.549 on the season. Steve Reed was good, too.

Nice to see Marco(s) Scutaro get the nod at second-base tonight for the A's. Mientkiewicz' days as the starting first baseman may be numbered, as the Norfolk Tides website indicates that 1B Brian Daubach was promoted to New York. Daubach was hitting .356/.434/.629 with 11 homeruns and a K/BB ratio of 31/28 in 194 at-bats, all of which are very very good. There's no telling how they will translate to the big leagues, but even if he only hits .250/.330/.370 he will be much much better than Eyechart.
