Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes last night, they are much appreciated. No thanks to the Mets, who made it a most unhappy birthday. As a result I had to drink myself happy, so everybody wins! Except for the Mets, who lost.
Tom Glavine's 2006 option will vest this afternoon, assuming he can record at least one out. The Mets recalled Kaz Ishii, Tim "Hammer" Hamulack, and Shingo Takatsu as rosters expand to a maximum of 40.
The Mets desperately need to win this game lest this series go completely down the toilet and the Mets embark on a killer road trip on a very sour note. No pressure!
