In their recent summary piece on the prominent non-tenders,
ESPN.com mentions that the Mets have resigned Dave Williams to a one-year deal worth $1.25 million. Williams pitched well in four starts with the Mets and dreadfully in one other.
Date vs IP H R ER HR BB SO HBP
---------------------------------------------

8/24 STL 6.1 7 2 2 1 1 4 0

Williams will likely be available to make spot starts but will probably serve as the long man, assuming the role that Darren Oliver left behind when he
signed with the Angels a few days ago. Williams will also be a serviceable replacement for one of the Mets' aging starters when they inevitably go down with some age-related injury at some point during the season.
