It's Jackie Robinson Day around Major League Baseball, no moreso than in New York, where Shea annually commemorates Robinson's first game with assorted introductions, activities and retrospectives. Today serves as a fitting tribute to Robinson, who broke the color barrier on this day back in 1947. It's a great day for all of baseball and its existence is one of the finest contributions of the Selig administration to this great American sport.
Steve Trachsel takes the rock on eight days of rest against Tomo Ohka as the Mets try to win their eighth consecutive game.
