Quick Hits: The Mets are Good

I'm swamped at work today, but here are some thoughts to discuss amongst yourselves:

  • Jose Reyes is in a bit of a slump, but thanks to his four walks he still has a respectably OBP of .333.
  • If Cliff Floyd and Carlos Beltran miss significant time, this lineup takes a considerable hit. Picture a bottom-four of Jose Valentin, Endy Chavez, Anderson Hernandez and a pitcher. That's almost a guaranteed three outs out of four batters.
  • Duaner Sanchez has allowed just two hits in 9.1 innings. He can't keep that up. He also has 10 strikeouts in those innings, and I have a feeling he can keep that up.
  • Billy Wagner: finesse pitcher?
Floyd and Beltran are technically day-to-day, Belt with the tight hammy and Floyd with a rib cage injury. The Mets need both of these guys healthy and swinging the bat well, so I would certainly err on the side of caution and give them a few extra days if necessary.
