And now for the Mets dismantling of the team formerly known as the first place Arizona Diamondbacks.

Game 1: Mets 4, Diamondbacks 1

Orlando Hernandez's line from Game 1:

IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST GS
9.0 3 1 1 2 3 0 114-73 78
Don't get used to it, but El Duque turned in the Mets' first complete game of the season as he picked apart his former team. He had command of all of his pitches and was able to throw his breaking stuff at any time in the count. Big win, saved the bullpen.

Mr. Met:

  • Hitting: Carlos Beltran, 19.3% WPA
  • Pitching: Orlando Hernandez, 26.6% WPA
Mr. Regret:
  • Hitting: Orlando Hernandez, -4.2% WPA
  • Pitching: -------------, ---% WPA

Game 2: Mets 10, Diamondbacks 6

Steve Trachsel's line from Game 2:

IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST GS
5.1 8 5 3 6 2 2 100-54 32
Another day, another subpar outing from Steve Trachsel. He was fortunate -- like Glavine in Los Angeles -- to be blessed with a truckload of run support, but ten baserunners in just over five innings isn't usually going to result in a win.

Mr. Met:

  • Hitting: Carlos Beltran, 27.3% WPA
  • Pitching: Duaner Sanchez, 9.7% WPA
Mr. Regret:
  • Hitting: Steve Trachsel, -3.5% WPA
  • Pitching: Pedro Feliciano, -4.8% WPA

Game 3: Mets 5, Diamondbacks 0

Alay Soler's line from Game 3:

IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST GS
9.0 2 0 0 3 2 0 108-66 82
And just like that, Alay Soler turns in back-to-back gems including this one, a complete game shutout. Very swank.

Mr. Met:

  • Hitting: Carlos Beltran, 8.6% WPA
  • Pitching: Alay Soler, 42.8% WPA
Mr. Regret:
  • Hitting: Alay Soler, -4.8% WPA
  • Pitching: -------------, ---% WPA

Game 4: Mets 15, Diamondbacks 2

Pedro Martinez's line from Game 4:

IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST GS
5.0 5 1 1 1 3 1 91-60 55
Not Pedro's best start of the season, but a big improvement over his last one in Los Angeles. Pedro didn't have his best command but he used guts and guile to weave his way through five effective innings and turned the ball over to the well-rested bullpen.

Mr. Met:

  • Hitting: Chris Woodward, 15.3% WPA
  • Pitching: Pedro Martinez, 16.9% WPA
Mr. Regret:
  • Hitting: David Wright, -5.0% WPA
  • Pitching: Heath Bell, 0.0% WPA

Carlos Beltran was the WPA king in this series, racking up 69.3% WPA. He was the "Mr. Met" for the first three games and was just narrowly edged out by Woody in game four.
