I mentioned it earlier in the week, and yesterday the Mets executed a trade of minor league second basemen, sending Jeff Keppinger to Kansas City in exchange for Ruben Gotay. Gotay is a few years younger than Kepp and has some more pop. This is basically a nothing trade for the Mets; I'm happy for Keppinger, who was never going to be given a real chance with the Mets. He could be a decent utility guy in the big leagues, though his defense has never been anything to write home about.
Gotay is hitting .268/.326/.407 for AAA Omaha and will likely slot right into Kepp's spot at Norfolk.
