Wednesday Morning Mets Newsstand

Joel Sherman talks about the Mets, Pedro, Moises, and how the current team is good enough to beat up on the Pirates but wonders what lies beyond the trade deadline. Mark Hermann of Newsday does the same.

The Mets signed their top draft pick yesterday, Eddie Kunz, a RHP out of Oregon State. Terms of the deal were not announced, but Kunz is expected to report to Port St. Lucie for conditioning before joing the GCL Mets. Here are his stats from this year, courtesy of CollegeSplits.com.

Moises Alou is champing at the bit to return to the team. He was scheduled to come off the disabled list in time for last night's game, but is suffering from a sore shoulder following his last rehab game with the Brooklyn Cyclones. An MRI showed mild irritation and minor tendinitis, but he expects to be activated by this weekend.

Ted Berg and Michael Salfino talk New York baseball at SNY.tv. Berg mentions Pythagoras and his relation to the Yankees' recent resurgence; Salfino drops K/9 figures and bemoans Shawn Green. Hooray for progressive baseball journalism!

Our buddy Marc Normandin has a new article up at The New York Sun about the dearth of available talent at the trade deadline.
