Those lists of MLB free agents are about to get a little longer as today is the deadline for teams to tender contracts to players with between three and six years of service. The Mets have decisions to make on Mike Pelfrey, RA Dickey, Angel Pagan, John Maine, and Sean Green. I don't know what the normal timeframe is on these things, but the Mets have still not talked with Dickey's people. Anyway, here is a list of some of the names to watch out for after today's deadline.
Another interesting list of names can be found on Mets Today where Joe Janish compiles the guys who can probably be had for a minor league contract.
Biz of Baseball explains some of the reasoning behind the Tulowitzki deal. Tulowitzki certainly wasn't hurt by the lack of really good MLB shortstops. Although, maybe his contract will delude Derek Jeter even further that he is worth $20 million/year. Jeter and his people finally sat down with the Yankees, but no deal is imminent. But, what does Brian Cashman know? He's about to rappel off a Stamford building dressed as an elf.
Speaking of delusions, Carl Crawford wants an eight year deal.
