The holiday season is wrapping up and the new year is fast approaching. We should take this time to appreciate the good news pieces that come along during this time of year. Before the players have a chance to disappoint us on the field, they can entertain and impress us with their off the field holiday activities. David Wright was Santa Claus, R.A. Dickey went above and beyond the call of duty for a fan with cystic fibrosis, and if those don't warm your heart, here's a photo from 2008's holiday party.
The Mets starting rotation is still a major question mark for this season. One possible solution is newly signed reliever D.J. Carrasco. Another is Dillon Gee. Joe Janish suggests the Mets take a look at Aaron Heilman whose delivery and repertoire are well suited for a starting role.
New York is interested in Manny Ramirez and it's not the Mets.
The Phillies, after losing out on Dennys Reyes, have signed JC Romero.
Florida's new stadium is about halfway done and the season ticket sales have been surprisingly awesome.
Texas has signed Brandon Webb.
Trevor Hoffman had a strong second half to 2010, but most MLB teams are not convinced that the all-time saves leader has anything left.
Joe Posnanski gives us some of the most crushing defeats in all of sports. Enjoy/cry.
