Braves 6, Mets 3: Wright Homers In First Inning, Nothing Else Good Happens

New, 95 comments

Derrek Lee's seventh inning grand slam off Manny Acosta was the deciding blow in this one. That's the second high leverage grand slam the Acostalypse has allowed in the last two months. It gave the Braves a 6-2 lead, handing Bobby Cox a sweep in his last regular season series ever in New York. Good riddance.

R.A. Dickey struggled in his six innings of work, striking out none while walking two. He did induce fourteen groundball outs, matching his counterpart, noteworthy groundball machine Derek Lowe.

David Wright hit an opposite field two-run home run in the first inning. So there's that.

The Mets are off Monday and start a three game series in Miami against the Marlins on Tuesday.

Could Cox's last stop in Queens end any other way?
An ejection, some comebacks, the Mets swept away
As Mets fan, I won't weep now that he's retired
Who knew managers left without being fired?
