Mejia's Future Applesauce - Warthen sees Jenrry as Met future reliever, Ollie wants to be SP, Phillie 4 show up

Meet the Mets

With pitchers and catchers trickling into Port St. Lucie, now is a good time to focus on the organization's top pitching prospect, Jenrry Mejia. Dan Warthen made some waves over the weekend, saying that his Magic 8 Ball foresees Mejia as a relief pitcher. Toby Hyde is frustrated with that mindset, but doesn't see it as all too important. Michael Diaz digs deeper into Warthen's reasoning and focuses on the injury risks of throwing a cut fastball. And Joe Janish is still wary of Mejia's mechanics.

Oliver Perez is at camp and wants to be a starting pitcher again. Some people say that he showed signs of improvement during his Winter League experience. But, others say that he needs more of the wolf power.

Terry Collins is excited about Wilmer Flores's bat, but says the kid needs a position.

Speaking of a guy who needs a position, Daniel Murphy would certainly be a fine hitting second baseman, but will his defense hold up?

Crazy suggestion for the day: Johan Santana to the Yankees?

LOLKatz! That is all.

Around MLB

The big story around MLB was the Phillies Phantastic Phour showing up and being anointed NL Champions at Spring Training. The Ruben Amaro smug meter is now off the charts.

CC Sabathia will likely opt out of his Yankee contract this offseason.

Morgan Ensberg will not say anything about the Albert Pujols contract extension. This is how long he will not say anything.

What is going on with the Yankee dominance of the Twins? That may be true, the Twins have this over the Yankees.

Billy Beane sits down and talks with John Sickels about his philosophy for developing prospects.

The Giants aren't going to get Elmer Dessens after all. They're going to have to make do with Brian Lawrence. Ewww.
