Day 1 in Port St. Lucie

Made it to spring training today. To be honest by the time we got off the plane, rented the car and dealt with the hotel nonsense we only caught the last bit of workouts so tomorrow will be more productive. But it was still pretty awesome as I've never been to PSL before. So hopefully in the next week or so I'll be able to bring you guys some pretty cool content.

Just some early thoughts:

  • Ronny can still draw a crowd with the best of 'em
  • RHP Manny Alvarez opened some eyes this afternoon with a very nice bullpen session...I've been saying it since last summer, the guy would be a very nice addition to the Mets 'pen right now
  • Apparently RA didn't have that 12-mile bike ride in him today
  • Nice to see seven-year minor leaguer and likely opening day backup C Mike Nickeas sign autographs/pose for pictures for a really long time...also he's short
Check back tomorrow for more from Mets camp. And you can keep track of all my 2011 Spring Training photos on my Flickr page here.

--- UPDATE ---

Just took a trip to the Walgreen's for some bottled water. Got on line and who's in front of me? K-Rod. And his girlfriend. He got a ton of Icy Hot. And for the record he did donate to the local charity. Then he sped off into the St. Lucie night in this.
