The Mets made their second round of cuts this morning, assigning a bunch more players either to minor league camp or to free agency depending on the situation. So far the list looks like this:
RHP Dillon Gee
RHP Boof Bonser
RHP Ryota Igarashi
LHP Taylor Tankersley
IF Russ Adams
OF Jason Pridie
C Dusty Ryan
C Raul Chavez
Not really any surprises here. With Young and Capuano proving healthy and effective, it became pretty clear that Gee wasn't going to hook on. Hopefully Boof accepts an assignment to Buffalo rather than testing the free agent waters; he looked like solid middle relief depth which always comes in handy during the season. Also, I suppose this cements Tim Byrdak as the clubhouse leader for the LOOGY role, if that wasn't clear enough already.
As for Ollie and Castillo, I'm not that surprised. Both are scheduled to play this afternoon and what's more, with all of the money the Mets have sunk into these guys I doubt any decision regarding when to jettison them will hinge on a few twentys distributed for meal money.

A couple of statistical oddities here: Of the 14 men Tankersley retired, he K'd nine of them and only walked one suggesting dominance yet he still posted a 12+ ERA. Same story for Iggy.
